A family's journey toward a better life is interrupted by an unstable man of the cloth.
My opinion Typicalhorror moviewitha typicalstory. This movie is about thefrequentlyused item of a community wherean ancientritualmanifests itselfregularlyandanewfamily that settles there becomes the victim.A priest, hiswife andthreechildrenare moving intotheirnew homein a small villagein the middleof the U.S..DaughterRebecca attracts the most attention. Quite normal since she's a beautiful young teenager. Theunfolding of thedark secretispainfully slowand precededby whatseems to be evolvingintoateenagelove story.
Finallywe cometo know thatthere isa gateopened andthe residentsshould sacrifice someone so thegateis closed again. Thefamilyis sacrificedandRebeccaremainsas "The chosen one". There were some positivepointsin this movie. Thefamily always felt like areal family. The process of Mary's possession andthe implementation was welldeveloped.Thefaltering movement of the possessedsister reminded me of"The Ring". The wayMarysometimesstoodthere staring as if she was in a trance and then slowly looked up,
emphasizedthat feeling. The way the blackmass continuously spunitself over the floors, walls and buildings, was visuallyhighlydeveloped.
The negative points were the lack ofexplanation about thedemon thatappears and theinertia oftheentirefilm. But ifyou look at the finaltinycontentof the entire movie, it's normal that it was that slow.
All in all it was certainly ameritoriousattempt andI've enjoyed watching it. Although there wasn't muchtensionin it andabsolutely no scares. At least for me there wasn't !
